God knows your name.

God knows your name, God knows you, you are known by God

God knows your name. Did you know that God really knows you? In the world today with all its hustle and bustle, it’s easy to feel like you are forgotten or unknown. However, God really and truly knows you. You were fearfully and wonderfully made. God knew you before you were formed in your mother’s womb. He knows when you get up and when you go to sleep. He even knows the thoughts you are going to think before you think them. He knows everything about you (see Psalm 139). You are not forgotten, in fact, you are God’s handiwork and you were made for the purpose that God has prepared for you. He has good works already set up for you to do (see Ephesians 2:10). The Bible says … Read More

Trusting God is a decision.

Trust in God

Trusting God is a choice. Trusting God can be hard sometimes. Trust in God is not always about the way we feel, but rather about what we choose to believe. Feelings are great but they are not always right. Take Gideon for example ( see Judges 6 & 7). Israel was completely oppressed by the Midianites. Every time they planted anything their enemy would destroy it. Just when Gideon felt like God had left them as a nation, an angel of the Lord appeared to him. The angel told Gideon that God would use him to deliver Israel from the hands of their enemies. Yet Gideon hardly felt like he was able, he saw himself as the weakest in his clan and he had doubts about whether God was still with them. … Read More

Walk in Love

walk in love

Walk in Love As Christians, we often want to judge people but Jesus commanded us to walk in love (John 13:34-35). In life, you are not always going to be able to control what other people do to you. At times people will do you wrong and the last thing you want to do is love them. However holding a grudge or being angry at someone is not really a choice as a believer. Just take a look at Ephesians 4:26-27 and Matthew 6:15. Yes, there will be a consequence to people’s actions and yes justice is important. But as lovers of God, we are called to forgive people and walk in love when they do us wrong. A few years ago I made a mistake at work. It was … Read More

Praising God breaks off chains

Praising God

Praising God breaks the chains off. Praising God is easy when life is going well. But what happens when we praise God in the midst of a dark situation. Praise is so much more than just singing to God. Praising God is  a weapon in our armoury that can cause the things that hold us back to be broken off us. Take Paul and Silas for example (see Acts 16). Here we see two men of God getting severely beaten, thrown into the middle of the prison (probably the maximum security section of its day), and bound in chains. Then in the darkest time of the night (around midnight), you would expect these two prisoners to be either crying from the wounds they had received or be sleeping. But instead, … Read More

Faith and fear.

Slaying Giants

Faith and fear. Faith and fear both work. Fear causes you to run away, but faith causes you to run towards the challenge. It’s funny how fear can stop you getting to where you are supposed to be and yet faith can cause you to triumph. Just look at the story of David and Goliath (see 1 Samuel 17). Goliath was all that stood between Israel and the plans God had for them. Yet this one  man, Goliath, used fear as a weapon to keep a whole nation paralysed. If you look at the story, no battle actually took place, it was all about the enemies fear and intimidation tactics that caused the soldiers not to advance. What Israel saw and heard kept them defeated. So how come David saw … Read More

Feeling alone, God never leaves us.

feeling alone

Feeling alone? I’m sure at some stage we have all felt alone. Sometimes you can be surrounded by people and yet feel so alone. But no matter how it may feel we are never alone. God said that he would never leave us nor forsake us ( Hebrews 13:5). God has left us with His Holy Spirit and He is our comforter (John 14, John 16:7-8). So next time you are feeling alone, remember that the Holy Spirit lives inside you and He never leaves you alone. You are never without someone who loves you, God is love (1 John 4:16) and His presence lives inside you. Today as you start your day ask God to show His love to you. Read these scriptures out loud and remind yourself that you … Read More

Trusting God in Hard Times

Books on trusting God

Trusting God in hard times. As a Christian, it’s so easy to say that we trust God. But what about trusting God in hard times? What happens when life doesn’t go the way we would like or the way we expected? Maybe you have had a bad medical report, a relationship falls apart or lost a business. Is God still trustworthy and is He still good when something doesn’t go the way we wanted? It’s easy to trust God in the good seasons of life, but is that really trust? Are we really trusting God through trials?  Knowing exactly the way a situation is going to turn out is not trust. In life, there are times when some things just don’t make sense. I’ve found that if I based God’s goodness and faithfulness … Read More

IS GOD STILL GOOD WHEN LIFE DOESN’T SEEM TO BE?

is god good

Recently I’ve seen the goodness of God even when life didn’t seem all that good.   A few months ago, I released a book called, Testimonies of a Good God. It’s my story of the goodness of God, His grace and  faithfulness in my life. However in the midst of this, I have been going through one of the most challenging seasons physically that I have ever walked through. In mid-December I hurt my back and was unable to work the rest of the month due to the pain I was in. Then en-route to a family holiday in Germany, I found myself lying in an intensive care unit of a non-English speaking hospital in Belgium. In front of me, the doctor telling me that I had a severe infection … Read More
