Praising God breaks off chains

Praising God

Praising God breaks the chains off.

Praising God is easy when life is going well. But what happens when we praise God in the midst of a dark situation. Praise is so much more than just singing to God. Praising God is  a weapon in our armoury that can cause the things that hold us back to be broken off us. Take Paul and Silas for example (see Acts 16). Here we see two men of God getting severely beaten, thrown into the middle of the prison (probably the maximum security section of its day), and bound in chains. Then in the darkest time of the night (around midnight), you would expect these two prisoners to be either crying from the wounds they had received or be sleeping. But instead, they are praying and praising God. What happened next was amazing and I believe a direct result of their praise. An earthquake took place which shook the very foundations of the prison and set them all free. Their praise not only sets the captives free but also resulted in the salvation of the jailer and his whole family.

Just like Paul and Silas did, today make a choice to praise your way into freedom. Praising God breaks off the chains.
